Over the last year my car is always overheating. It has been to the garage a number of times. It has had the radiator fix and also a temperature valve replaced.
However this has made no difference and it still over heating.
I find as soon as i start the engine and drive alone the temperature starts to rise. On a normal run driving over 50 mph and not too many stops I can keep the temperature gauge low enough to stop the warning light.
However if I get caught up in slow moving traffic or I stop with the engine just ticking , that's it the temperature rockets and the STOP warning light appears. A fan seems to kick in and the light goes out.
Sometimes I can have the go off 3-4 times in slow moving traffic..
Please help !!!!

Sounds like the cooling has gone. My car had a leaky radiator which caused the same problem.
It could be that the water isn't circulating properly - blocked somewhere or something
the temp sensor could have gone
I guess there is plenty of coolant ;D
